Spring Cleaning Checklist: Beyond the Basics

Spring brings longer days and fresh air. It’s the perfect time to reset your home beyond a surface clean. Preparation is key: gather microfibre cloths, scrub pads, degreaser, glass cleaner, a grout brush, fresh mop heads, and a duster with an extendable pole. Plan a couple of sessions each week and tackle one zone at a time.

Start in the kitchen by emptying and wiping the fridge and freezer, cleaning seals, and reorganising the pantry. Deep clean the oven and stovetop, soak racks, degrease rangehood filters, and wipe cupboards inside and out. In the bathrooms, scrub grout, descale shower screens, clean exhaust fans, and declutter toiletries. Bedrooms and living areas benefit from vacuumed mattress surfaces, rotated bedding, washed pillow protectors, fresh curtains, cleaned window tracks, and reorganised wardrobes. Across the whole home, target skirting boards, handles, switches, ceiling fans, vents, and air-con filters. Don’t forget balconies, outdoor furniture, and the BBQ.

For allergy relief, vacuum with a HEPA filter and avoid leaving windows open during high pollen hours. And if the thought of tackling all of this feels overwhelming, booking a professional spring clean is the quickest way to set a high standard, leaving you with only light weekly upkeep to maintain.
